In Game 7 between the Rangers and the Houston Astros, Adolis stole the night. He connected 4-5 at bat with 5 RBIs and 2 homeruns leading his team to seal the deal with a 11-4 victory.
Adolis Garcia a clear superstar
The Cuban was the clear favorite to win the MVP, as his numbers in the series were outstanding with a .357 batting average, 5 homeruns, 7 runs, 1.293 OPS and 15 RBIs, the most in post-season history.
Garcia is the fifth Cuban in Major League history to be named Most Valuable Player in a Championship Series, joining Yordan Alvarez (2021), Randy Arozarena (2020), Orlando Hernández (1999) and Livan Hernández (1997).
Garcia was ejected in Game 6 after a conflict with Astros catcher Martin Maldonado for an allegedly intentional hit by pitcher Brian Abreu.
Now, the native of Ciego de Avila will try to stay on fire and contribute to the Rangers’ cause in the World Series after ousting last season’s world champions.
Rangers looking to make history
This riveting ALCS victory means the Rangers will return to the World Series 12 years, after losing to the Saint Louis Cardinals in seven games in 2011.
Now, the American League champions dream of lifting the Commissioner’s Trophy for the first time in their history. For the moment, the Arlington-based team awaits its opponent, which will be known after the seventh game of the National League series between the Philadelphia Phillies and the Arizona Diamondbacks.
No matter which team wins the NLCS tonight, Game 1 of the 2023 World Series will be played this Friday, October 27th, and hosted by the Rangers at Globe Life Field in Arlington.
